Primary Aim

Two interwoven objectives define the primary aim of this educational
establishment of Darul Huda (Al-Qalam School): a rigorous Islamic
religious and general academic curriculum, and an emphasis on the
formation of character in a setting where daily life of students is
strongly rooted in the values of the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
Al-Qalam wants to inspire its students to reach their fullest intellectual
and spiritual potential. As a college preparatory school, Al-Qalam strives
to be challenging but would be personally supportive to students through a
combination of skillful teaching and close student-faculty relationship.
Its fundamental academic goal is to instill in its students a love of
learning; to develop analytical and creative capacities; to read
critically, to think, speak, and write with cogency and precision. Al-Qalam
will prepare its graduates to enter reputable institutions of higher
learning to pursue careers of their choice.
Identity

The institutional set up of the Al-Qalam School is deeply ingrained in
Islamic faith(Sunni), the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.S) and
his companions (R.A.T.A). The curriculum and academic instructions are
oriented to nurture these values in order to enlighten the hearts and
minds of its young students.

Curriculum

We believe the most dynamic teaching and learning occur in a small
classroom environment, and we have designed a curriculum to maximize
this opportunity.
The Middle School curriculum
Al-Qalam encourages students to pursue a challenging course of study in
Mathematics, English grammar and composition, English literature,
science and social studies. Middle grades (6th - 8th) courses provide
students with a firm grasp of fundamental principles of Mathematics,
Science and English, focusing on the development of reading, writing and
speaking skills and problem-solving techniques. The middle grade
curriculum includes additional resources, books, and materials to
prepare students of grade level SSAT
examination.
Al-Qalam encourages students internal assessment by Al-Qalam School will
be validated by external assessment through grade level
SSAT exam. At a given grade
level, students must successfully pass the
SSAT exam in order to be
promoted to the next grade level.
Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT)
is the most challenging and competitive grade level examination
administered all over the world by SSAT, Princeton, NJ, USA, and is recognized by thousands of
outstanding private and magnet public schools in US and many other
countries. A student having successfully completed
SSAT exam at each grade level
would have better chance to receive favorable response from the college
admission committee.
The High School curriculum

provides students with challenging advanced level courses in English,
Algebra, Calculus, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science
and US History. This course work is designed to prepare students for
taking Advance Placement (AP) examination of The College Board in these
disciplines.
The College Board offers high school diploma for students who passes its
AP examination in Algebra, Calculus, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics,
Computer Science, US History, English Composition and English

Princeton, NJ, USA, the worldwide administrator of GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and
TOEFL. The College Board High School Diploma is recognized by thousands
of academic institutions of higher learning such as Harvard, Cornell,
Stanford, Princeton, Columbia and Brown Universities. A grade point of 4
or 5 in AP exam in physics, chemistry or other above mentioned subjects
could be used to obtain college credit for those courses. The credit in
effect would waive the requirement of taking those courses during the
college freshman year.
All students at Al-Qalam are required to sit for Advance Placement (AP)
